Savory cheesecakes have long been one of my “go-to” choices for holiday gatherings.  They can take a little time, but the results are absolutely worth it!  Don’t you think?  They serve plenty of people, because, after all, savory cheesecakes are so rich, your portion sizes are fairly small.



My Savory Party Cheesecake Appetizer contains three key ingredients that you’ll need to prep prior to starting your cheesecake.  The Sage Gremolata, Everything Bagel Crumbs and Roasted Garlic can be prepared a day before you want to bake your cheesecake.

Fresh Sage Gremolata

This recipe is an adaptation of the traditional parsley, garlic and lemon gremolata.  It’s got a fabulous touch of “Fall” flavor imparted from the pile of fresh sage that’s tossed into the mixture.


Roasted Garlic – 

I like to roast whole heads of garlic when I’m cooking a roast or some chicken.  It likes to stay in the oven a long time, so it makes sense to roast some when you already have the oven on!

Don’t worry, I walk you through the process in the recipe!


Everything Bagel Crumbs –

You’ll need 2 full cups of bagel crumbs, but I found that 1 extra large bagel was just enough!

After combining the crumbs with butter and a little salt, you’ll par-bake the crust until its toasty brown.

Now that you’ve got your Sage Gremolata, Roasted Garlic  and Everything Bagel Crumbs prepared, you’ll be ready to roll!

Savory Party Cheesecake Appetizer

Creamy goat cheese cheesecake laced with prosciutto, sundried tomatoes, roasted garlic and swirled with a sage gremolata makes a fabulous party appetizer. An "everything bagel" crust is the finishing touch on this simply sensational holiday buffet hors d'oeuvre. Serve it with gourmet crackers and breadsticks for a sophisticated snack.


  • 2 cups "everything bagel" crumbs (use your food processor)
  • 5 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh sage leaves
  • 1 cup fresh parsley, stems removed
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • 2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 18 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz. goat cheese, crumbled
  • 3 Tbsp. AP flour
  • 8 oz. prosciutto, diced
  • 1/2 cup sundried tomatoes, drained and diced
  • 2 Tbsp. roasted garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup shallots, diced
  • 1/4 tsp. fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt


  1. CRUST: In a small bowl, combine the crust ingredients. Press onto the bottom of a greased 9-in. springform pan. Place pan on a baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack.
  2. SAGE GREMOLATA: Combine all ingredients except oil in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse a few time to chop herbs and combine. With the processor running a slow speed, slowly drizzle olive oil into processor and process until combined.
  3. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and flour until smooth. Add eggs; beat on low speed just until combined. Stir in the prosciutto, tomatoes, roasted garlic, shallots and salt and pepper. Pour into crust. Swirl 1/3 - 1/2 cup of sage gremolata into the filling with a small spoon. DON'T GO TOO DEEP, YOU'LL SCRAPE THE BOTTOM CRUST!
  4. Bake at 325° for 45-55 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool l hour longer. Cover loosely and refrigerate overnight. Serve with crackers.
