Ingredients For A Fabulous Life
raising the bar on life, one post at a time...
With fabulous toppings like fried chickpeas, radish slices, smoky sour cream and even hard cooked eggs, it’s certainly party worthy! Why not make the whole selection for a fun party appetizer platter!
To keep this recipe fast and simple, I’ve used canned chickpeas. You skip all the fuss, and go straight to the preparation instead! I’d much rather spend time “gilding the lily”, by making a fabulous selection of toppings to make this recipe more festive.
These are the topping combinations I’ve suggested for this post, see what you think!
There’s two topping components that you’ll need to prepare separately, but they’re both a snap to make!
A LEMONY CHERMOULA SAUCE –
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup each chopped fresh cilantro and parsley.
Add 1 large garlic clove, minced, 1 tsp. lemon zest, 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice, salt, pepper & ground cumin to taste. Mix to combine well. Place a large helping in the center of a bowl of hummus and drizzle with olive oil.
SMOKY SOUR CREAM –
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup sour cream and 1 tsp. smoky paprika. Mix well to combine.
Sprinkle additional paprika on top of hummus, add some fried garlic slices and place a dollop of smoky sour cream in the middle.
Both of these recipes are included on the recipe card for Garlicy Israeli Hummus with Assorted Toppings at the bottom of this post.

Infused with mellow garlic, this Israeli Hummus is fabulous with lots of wonderful toppings like fried chickpeas, radish slices, Smoky sour cream and even hard cooked eggs. Why not make a selection for a fun party appetizer platter!
In the bowl of a food processor, pulse process garlic, lemon juice, and 1 tsp. salt in a food processor until coarsely puréed; let sit 10 minutes to allow garlic to mellow.
Add tahini to food processor and pulse to combine. With motor running, add ¼ cup ice water by the tablespoonful and process the mixture until it is very smooth and thick.
Add chickpeas and cumin, pulsing, occasionally stopping to scrape down sides, until mixture is extremely smooth, about 3-4 minutes. Thin with additional water or lemon juice if you prefer a looser consistency. Taste mixture and adjust with more salt, lemon juice and/or cumin if desired.
Spoon hummus into a shallow bowl, making a well in the center, and drizzle liberally with oil. Top as desired.
Chermoula Sauce: In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup each chopped fresh cilantro and parsley. Add 1 large garlic clove, minced, 1 tsp. lemon zest, 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice, salt, pepper & ground cumin to taste. Mix to combine well.
Smoky Sour Cream: In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup sour cream and 1 tsp. smoky paprika. Mix well to combine. Sprinkle additional paprika on top of hummus and place a dollop of smoky sour cream in the middle.
