Dulce de Leche Caramel Dip

Yield: 3 half pint jars
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 2 hours
Total Time: 2 hours 10 minutes

Super thick and creamy, Dulce de Leche Caramel Dip brings the flavors of Latin America to this fabulous dessert dip.

Ingredients

  • 4 cans sweetened condensed milk
  • SUPPLIES: 3 Sterilized half-pint canning jars
  • Large pot with lid
  • Round metal cooling rack to fit inside pot
  • Tongs, Hot Pads
  • Canning kit (optional)

Instructions

Fill 3 sterilized half-pint canning jars with sweetened condensed milk
and replace ring and cover. (not to tightly)  Place in a pot large enough to cover the jars with water.  Set the covered pot over medium-high heat until it comes to a simmer.  Reduce the heat, vent the lid and simmer for 1 1/2 hours - 2 1/2 hours, depending on how dark you like your dulce de leche.  Check the pot every half hour to add more water as needed to keep the jars under water. 

When the sauce reaches the desired color, remove the jars and let sit, undisturbed for 1 hour.  You should hear the jars "pop" as the lids seal themselves.
