Ingredients For A Fabulous Life
raising the bar on life, one post at a time...
I’m a huge fan of everything buffalo plaid. So I was inspired to take advantage of all the fabulous plaid decor on the market this holiday season. My Christmas Buffalo Plaid Vignette is just one of the components of my Christmas Buffalo Plaid Porch.
I have some year-round staples that I used over and over throughout the various seasons, so that’s where I started. My antique wagon and pair of lanterns appear in most of my front porch displays, decked out in seasonal garb.
But I wanted to add something that could be both an indoor or outdoor display, on a table top or a stand. I went “window shopping” in my garage and decided that the beverage server I use for Summer gatherings could work perfectly. And, I was right! It came out quite lovely, didn’t it?
I’ve put together a Resource Section for you to find all the components you’ll need to create your own Christmas Buffalo Plaid Vignette. You’ll find it at the end of this post, along with the information on how to get your copy of the 2021 Christmas Holiday Planner too!
I also created a set of Buffalo Plaid Christmas Luminaries, Topiaries and a Christmas Present Tower to round out the display. I’ll tell you more about them later!
Now let’s dive into this beautiful Christmas holiday project!
First, you’ll need to decide what container to use for your Christmas Buffalo Plaid Vignette. Here’s a few ideas if you don’t happen to have a double-duty beverage bin.
Now that you know what you’ll be using for your vignette, let’s see what you’ll need to pull together a Christmas Buffalo Plaid Vignette similar to the one I created here.
Below the instructional graphics is the RESOURCE SECTION to help you locate and purchase all the necessary supplies for your Christmas Buffalo Plaid Vignette.
I used a cardboard circle from a frozen pizza for my base, and 4 heavy-duty paper coffee cups to hold it up. The whole goal here is to keep your base steady and be able to hold the weight of the trees.
You’ll want to also tape the base to the sides of the container for extra stability for carrying or using outdoors.
Once again, I didn’t use a high-tech solution to keep my hook in place, especially since I’m hanging a lightweight lantern. It’s not even modeling clay, but clay window insulation strips we had leftover from plugging a few windows in our mountain cabin.
But of course, if you think of a better idea, go with it! Just make sure it will hold the weight of your lantern without tipping over.
Next you’ll artfully unfurl and entwine the grapevine in and around all three trees. Tuck any excess in the back, still coiled up.
Now the “fun” part starts! Add your glittery poinsettias, red birds and bows distributed throughout the vignette.
As you can see, your Buffalo Plaid Vignette is just at home on a tabletop as it is in a stand. It’s really a matter of what you choose to use for your vignette’s container.
Just keep in mind the scale of your space and your project, as an outdoor display needs to be large enough to be a focal point. Especially at a distance!
I actually created an entire Christmas Buffalo Plaid Porch with several fun and festive DIY decorations and plenty of holiday inspiration!
As you can see, the combination of elements make this front porch display absolutely fabulous for the holiday season. Talk about an eye-catching combination, using a dramatic buffalo plaid pattern to carry through the theme.
