Yes, as you probably know, making a fruit butter takes some time.  BUT, it’s mostly hands-off cooking time, during which you can be making something else. Like…

You can make the Char Siu Chinese BBQ Pork that’s the second component in this recipe.  It uses the oven, and the Red Wine-Ginger Pear Butter the stove top, so it’s works perfectly.

While the pork is roasting and your pot of pear butter  is simmering, you’ll still have time to accomplish more.  But, you’ll need to plan ahead to have all the ingredients on hand to multi-task making three different items.

But, have no fear, The Lifestyle Diva is here with a fabulous way to organize and plan your holiday season this year.

Or take a great shortcut.  Pick up some Chinese BBQ Pork from your favorite take-out joint or use bottled sauce on plain roasted pork.  It’s the holidays, go for fab foods, but keep the stress out of the kitchen!

When you’re making your grocery list, be sure you include 2 packages of frozen puff pastry shells.  This recipe makes 12 generous hor ‘doeuvres.   Make sure you keep the pastry shells in the freezer until you’re ready to bake them.
I actually like to keep a few packages on hand all season long for a great way to get fancy with holiday leftovers.  Almost anything will taste fabulous in puff pastry enrobed with a lovely sauce!  It’s a quick way to make a special holiday breakfast too!
For example, last year I served this for New Year’s Day brunch!
  • Puff pastry shells filled with herbed cream cheese, topped with a pile of fluffy scrambled eggs. I cooked up some bits of New Year’s Eve ham and green onions in brown sugar and sage to crown the tops.  It was truly divine!
