Ingredients For A Fabulous Life
raising the bar on life, one post at a time...
This Corn Husk Fall Mantel Garland project started with a package of corn husks I purchased in the Spring for tamales. There were plenty leftover and I was tired of seeing them in the cupboard.
I always go a little crazy when it comes to my home’s Fall decorations. My collection has grown over the years, with enough for both my indoor and front porch needs. But, that doesn’t mean I can’t keep adding more!
As you can see, I interspersed some of my collection to help give my Fall Mantel a “finished” look. That’s another way you can put your own personal touch on your Fall mantle once you’ve finished your corn husk garland.
If you’d like to have all the instructions in a printable PDF format, I’ll tell you how to get your copy at the end of this post.
Most of my Fall accents were purchased from Michael’s Stores. I love the large selection of Ashland products they have both in-store and online. But it can be a bit daunting scrolling through all the pages, so I gave you the list of Fall accents I used for my Corn Husk Fall Mantel Garland.
Feel free to get creative and go “rogue” with a few different choices if you desire. If you want to customize the colors to coordinate with your room’s color palette, you can purchase a combination that suits your needs.

I love me a Dual Temperature glue gun! Since I actually own three glue guns, it’s great to have one that’s so versatile in my crafting stable. The other two are a fine-tip low-heat model and a professional high-heat version for heavy-duty work. I know it might seem a bit excessive, but I find that using the right tool makes for a much more pleasurable experience.

First we begin by dyeing half of the corn husks to make our green leaves. I decided that if the entire Corn Husk Fall Mantel Garland was beige, it wouldn’t have enough impact for a fireplace display. So green it was!
It’s super easy to dye your own corn husks, so let’s get started!
