CARAMELIZED BALSAMIC FRESH FIG TOPPING

Caramelized Balsamic Fresh Fig Topping is sophisticated and complex and takes everything it touches to the next level of yum!

Plump, fresh figs, brown sugar and a touch of orange juice are first cooked down into a caramelized delight. Then a splash of balsamic is added to lend a depth of flavor that makes this topping extra special.

Here’s some great ways to use a batch of Caramelized Balsamic Fresh Fig Topping:

  • Spooned over slices of pound or angel food cake and topped with whipped cream
  • Topper for a dish of vanilla ice cream with some crumbled pecan brittle
  • Spoon into your morning yogurt-granola bowl instead of fresh fruit
  • Blended into a smoothie or milkshake
  • Gently heated and ladled over thick slices of roasted pork loin

CARAMELIZED BALSAMIC FRESH FIG TOPPING

You’ll want to make sure not to break up your fresh figs too much when stirring your sauce, as you’ll want nice sized quarters to remain.

It’s especially important to choose plump, juicy figs for your Caramelized Balsamic Fresh Fig Topping.

MAKING FAST WORK OF CARAMELIZED BALSAMIC FIGS

The secret ingredient to this amazing Caramelized Balsamic Fresh Fig Topping is of course, balsamic vinegar.  I tested this recipe twice, the first time using a beautifully aged balsamic.

Needless to say, we loved it in our morning yogurt-granola-fruit bowls and enjoyed it on a bowl of ice cream.

While on vacation this Summer, I picked up a bottle of Fig Balsamic Vinegar and wanted to try it out in this recipe. The results the second time around were, like WOW!  I won’t tell you that you need to run out and buy a bottle, but you just might want to anyway…
