PATRIOTIC YARD SIGNS FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY FUN

Why not show your Patriotic spirit on your lawn this year?  These adorable Patriotic Yard Signs are such an easy and festive way to decorate for the 4th of July!

I’ve created 6 different designs to give your display a whole lot of holiday pride!  I’ll tell you how to get the Patriotic Yard Sign PDF at the bottom of this post.

I MADE MIND IN ONE EVENING IN FRONT OF THE TELEVISION!

Who says that streaming a few episodes of one of my fave shows isn’t productive?

That afternoon I had made a pit stop at my local Ace Hardware Store and asked the paint department for a few wooden paint stirrers.  Once I explained what I was using them for, the gentleman behind the counter reached into his bucket and gave me a whole handful.  How nice was that?

Once I got them home, I made fast work of painting the stirrers a beautiful shade of red and let them dry.

Before I sat down that evening, I downloaded and printed out my LEGAL SIZE (8 1/2″ X 14″) PDF on WHITE CARDSTOCK for sturdy yard signs.   By the time I got my soda and picked what show to watch, the signs were waiting for me, printed out in brilliant color.

NAN’S TIP:  If you don’t have a color printer, just download the PDF and send it to your local copy shop.  You’ll be able to pick up your printed color sheets as soon as they’re ready!

Then I gathered a few items to help me finish the job.  Here’s the list I used to complete my Patriotic Yard Signs:

  • Craft paint (for sign posts/paint stirrers)
  • Scissors
  • Straight-Edge Cutter
  • 1 piece foam board (I used a partial one that was leftover from another project)
  • Glue
  • Red tissue paper

After cutting out the full set, I used my straight-edge cutter to make some “backer-boards” for each shaped sign.  I didn’t worry about getting the shape perfect, I just made the backer a rough shape to make the yard signs sturdy.

PUTTING TOGETHER YOUR PATRIOTIC YARD SIGNS

Once you’ve glued your foam backer board pieces onto your signs, you can attach the sign posts.  I used a hot glue gun to make sure they could hold up to some windy weather.

The finishing touch was to cut some red tissue paper tassles to attach to the bottom of the rockets.  I thought they needed a little “fire” to reach liftoff!
